WHY DISC REPLACEMENT?
Traditionally, the only option for cervical surgery was fusion. While fusion provides pain relief, it results in a loss of motion and can increase the risk of adjacent level degeneration, which may create a need for additional surgeries later on. In contrast, disc replacement preserves cervical motion and reduces the potential for future surgeries.
This site aims to answer questions such as “what are the benefits of disc replacement?” and “should I get disc replacement or cervical fusion?” Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries, and request an appointment to discuss your specific case.

WHY DISC REPLACEMENT?
Preserve Motion
Disc replacement as opposed to a disc fusion is able to preserve vertebral motion. Current artificial disc technology is the closest mobile implant that mimics the native disc motion.
Recover Function
Taking the pressure off the offending native disc relieves the nerves from compression which, with time and rehabilitation, can restore function.
Reduce Pain
By restoring the original height and configuration as well as direct decompression of the nerves, excellent and sometimes immediate pain relief is achieved.
Recover Quickly
Through a minimalistic surgical approach patients are able to return to activity in weeks.
